Das, a senior English teacher of the legendary school.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Lora; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Lora; font-size: large;">In my entire teaching career of about forty years in several English medium schools in India and Bhutan, I have not come across any students, who ventured to be a writer at such a young age. But Munmun has broken the ice! In spite of her rural and under-privileged family background and schooling in a Bengali medium school, she has become the author of ‘The Divine Departure’ - a commendable book - at the age of 15.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Lora; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLXjdvfJZL8qR-vyHrDHMoH8vok_-XbPyf0Dj_ZMPV7nbcLelXFft92AQUgWzRg3XOZ3PK6tbHYcgFo52NTOq4JOUdpDqiOQwCka9NdKSJVjqlinB0y-UhcoVVwiG4WQKbjLgz3w9bYGUpkhygSMhgCh7hNsmMcj_eP4dwmVm_FDp3cJbZd4tOF6puPG4/s1261/WhatsApp%20Image%202024-02-10%20at%2008.58.19.jpeg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Lora; font-size: large;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1261" data-original-width="852" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLXjdvfJZL8qR-vyHrDHMoH8vok_-XbPyf0Dj_ZMPV7nbcLelXFft92AQUgWzRg3XOZ3PK6tbHYcgFo52NTOq4JOUdpDqiOQwCka9NdKSJVjqlinB0y-UhcoVVwiG4WQKbjLgz3w9bYGUpkhygSMhgCh7hNsmMcj_eP4dwmVm_FDp3cJbZd4tOF6puPG4/w432-h640/WhatsApp%20Image%202024-02-10%20at%2008.58.19.jpeg" width="432" /></span></a></div><span style="font-family: Lora; font-size: large;">For her excellent performance in English communication and writing skills, she has fallen in the good books of several luminaries including Madam Kiran Bedi, the legendary lady police officer of India. Munmun has also become a recipient of the Virangana Award from the Govt of West Bengal. Her name has also appeared among the thirty best performers of the world in an International Essay Competition organized by the Japanese Government. She had been an average and unknown student till class V. But our very first encounter caused an explosion. When I told her, “Tell your parents that Bhutan dadu (Grandfather who worked in Bhutan) advises a strong English teacher for me, who can speak and write English fluently.” To this, she shot back: “Aar sei English teacher ta tumiye (And you are that English teacher)”. My old self was killed with one shot. I felt dazzled. A new teacher arose in me. With a blazing fire of enthusiasm and energy from the very next day I started driving to her house, a distance of 14km, to teach her, once a week. Munmun, her parents and grandparents were awestruck. A new light of joy shone in all of them.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Lora; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Lora; font-size: large;">In our journey, we ventured to adopt a wider approach of learning than the traditional method of confinement within the framework of textbooks and syllabi. I drove her into extensive creative reading, creative speaking, and creative writing. I carried dozens of books, WISDOM magazines and other reading materials of her tastes and standard, from my home library. Besides, I trained her in the Iyengar Yoga in order to tone up her entire system. As her capacity and receptivity grew, I lifted her to higher reading, writing, and speaking.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Lora; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Lora; font-size: large;">When she stepped into class VIII, her parents started to bring the child to me in order to reduce my hardships. Every Saturday after her school at Bhatibari, they dropped her at my residence and the next day, Sunday, afternoon they took her back.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Lora; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Lora; font-size: large;">Thus, we studied and learned together in a spirit of celebration – joyously, jubilantly, and jovially. This worked wonders with my devoted grand-daughter, Munmun.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Lora; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Lora; font-size: large;">Seeing her fiery growth and spirit, one Sunday morning I said to her: “Munmun, you must write an essay before leaving for home.” She replied piously: "OK, dadu.” She asked me the topic. I said, “The topic is: Munmun Eight Years Hence.” Next, she asked, “How many words?” I said, “Four thousand words.” She nodded. From 8:00 A.M, she wrote and wrote and wrote without any break till 2:00 PM in the scorching summer. And it was 24 pages of her notebook, more than four thousand words. I took some hours to read and contemplate on her incredible imagination and creativity. It became a historic experience for me of an innocent child’s miraculous unfoldment of her vast potential. The ordinary child now has gained extraordinary standards. From this, I understand that in every child a Buddha or a Vivekananda stays hidden.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Lora; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Lora; font-size: large;">She dreams to begin her career as an IAS Officer. <span style="font-family: Lora; font-size: large;"><span lang="EN-GB"><span>Role models are torch bearers
for radiating light of fresh hopes, strength and stimulation, and people feel electrified in their

impression behind in the minds of hundreds at an International Seminar at Saheed Kshudiram College of my

<span style="font-family: Lora; font-size: large;"><span lang="EN-GB"><span>To the tremendous seminar organized by

to see the grandeur and splendour of the seminar and the honour and dignity the guests received. More
interesting was that our Bhutanese guest, Mr H.B Viswa, happened to be the focus of attention to the
entire august audience, who was offered the highest degree of importance and respect by all. Everyone felt
magnetised with the nobility and sublimity of his personality. He personified the beauty of the tiny

the guests for the shining light of divinity in all. I also took pride to share with the audience that our
Bhutanese guest was my D.E.O in 1989, who supported, guided, protected, nurtured, and nourished me like a

the tapestry of virtues that shape our existence, gratitude stands as a radiant
jewel, illuminating our lives. It is in this radiant light that we celebrate
the embodiment of lofty virtue found in the remarkable journey of Hon’ble Dasho
Dr. Jamyang Namgyel and his parents. An unspoken symphony of appreciation binds
our hearts, as my wife and I reflect upon our roles as teachers at Nangkor
Central School. Dasho Jamyang has woven himself into the very fabric of our
memories, his presence radiating warmth since his early days in class IV. He
carried with him a demeanour of noble manners, sublime values and virtues,
bestowed upon him by his virtuous parents. His father, a journalist, wielded
the power of the pen to enfold me in his words. A tribute or two along his
literary journey etched me into the good books of the highest authorities of
the Kingdom, where Prof. K.C. Jose of Kerala added a special chapter to my
narrative.<o:p></o:p></span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-GB" style="line-height: 107%;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Dasho
Jamyang, even in his nascent years, exuded qualities of leadership that caught
our attention from the very beginning. His brilliance shone as he emerged as
the national topper in the class VIII Board Exam. His academic journey took him
to Pondicherry, India, where he pursued a medical course. Marvellously, he
became the General Secretary of the Students’ Union in Pondicherry, a testament
to his charismatic leadership. Despite his identity as a foreigner, he was
elected by the Indian students of the medical college as their leader, a
shining example of unity transcending boundaries.<o:p></o:p></span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-GB" style="line-height: 107%;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Furthering
his academic pursuits, he embarked on a journey to Canada, where he earned his
Master's degree. The culmination of his education marked a new chapter of
service, where he dedicated a decade to the betterment of his nation as a
doctor. A visionary spirit ignited within him, propelling him to extend the
horizons of his service to the nation. And so, he courageously bade farewell to
his medical career, stepping into the arena of politics. In the face of
challenges, he contested the National Council Election and emerged triumphant
with a sweeping majority. At a relatively young age of 34, he ascended the
ranks of a Parliamentarian in the Bhutanese Parliament. The hand of destiny has
indeed favoured this brave soul.<o:p></o:p></span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-GB" style="line-height: 107%;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"></span></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span lang="EN-GB" style="line-height: 107%;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="421" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/xHMxFwK_u9g" width="553" youtube-src-id="xHMxFwK_u9g"></iframe></span></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span lang="EN-GB" style="line-height: 107%;"><span style="color: white; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: medium;"><i style="background-color: red;"><b>Watch Video </b></i></span></span></div><span lang="EN-GB" style="line-height: 107%;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br />In
the embrace of this esteemed position, Dasho Jamyang sought to honour the roots

he, accompanied by six dear friends, graced my humble abode on Thursday, the

of reverence. As he embarked on his journey to his hometown, Pemagatshel, in

four-wheeler?" A warm chuckle met my question, and his jovial response was,
"My three children are my three cars." Within this simple yet
profound declaration, the essence of fatherhood and the love he held for his
offspring revealed itself.<o:p></o:p></span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-GB" style="line-height: 107%;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">As

<div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;"><span><i>“Practise Yoga hard; whether you live or die does not matter. You have
to plunge in and work, without thinking of the result……. Eat or not, do
Yoga.” - Swami Vivekananda (I.178)</i></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span><i><br /></i></span><span>For her countless marvels, miracles, and multifarious contributions to
the world, India has been the centre of attraction to all nations and
races from time immemorial. Among her diverse contributions, Yoga
Shastra, the science of Yoga, has been one of the greatest boons to
mankind. In today’s world, Yoga has become a popular household name at
every nook and corner of the globe. Its multifaceted benefit has been
experienced and acknowledged even by modern medical science. Dr. B.M
Hedge, in his celebrated book ‘What Doctors Don’t Get to Study in
Medical School’ wrote: “Scientific studies in India, in the US and
England have reiterated the above fact that Yoga and lifestyle changes,
based on the science of yoga, could even reverse many damages to the
body, including blood vessel blockages.”</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span><br /></span><span>The need of Yoga for people of all ages has become more dire today than
ever before to counter the numerous adverse effects of modern
civilization and promote ourselves as ideal citizens. And even more
needed it is for the students and growing children as they are the
pillars and torch bearers of the future. By its mysterious and
multifarious power, Yoga can build each student a mighty man or woman.
Without any academic qualification and material support, by the sheer
practice of Yoga, B.K.S Iyengar grew into a legend, who is adored by the
world community.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span><br /></span><span>In his book ‘How to be a Yogi’, Swami Abhedananda wrote: This Royal
method was extolled by Pythagoras, Plato, Plotinus, Proclus; by Gnostics
and the Christian mystics. It was practised by the Roman Catholic monks
– Spinoza, Kant, Schopenhauer, and Emerson practised it. The
concentrated mind of the Yogi is like an electric search light, path to
acquire perfect knowledge. The science of Raja Yoga leads to the
attainment of the highest ideal. This highest ideal, according to the
Bhagavad Gita, is the union of the individual soul with the Universal
Spirit. The powers attained by Raja Yoga will remain even after
death……If the object be the acquirement of perfect health or longevity,
then the effort of both mind and body to accomplish this through certain
practices is called “Yoga”. So is it again if the object is the
development of PSYCHIC POWERS……All psychic and spiritual powers serve
the Yogi as their real Master. Whatever the Yogi says is sure to come to
pass. He never utters a word in vain. If he says to a distressed or
suffering person, “ Be thou whole, instantly that person will become
whole.”</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span><br /></span><span>Yoga sharpens one’s intellect, develops concentration, builds
character, enhances mind power, keeps the body fit, and ignites the
thirst for knowledge and learning. Almost all kinds of problems,
obstacles and ailments are connected to our nervous system and can be
overcome by sincere practice of Yoga. Doctor Paul Joire, President of
the Society of Universal Psychological Studies wrote, “The muscles are
made to move by the nerves; the nerves regulate the circulation of the
blood by their direct action on the heart and by their action on the
blood vessels which they dilate or contract. Therefore, the nerves act
on all the organs and, by their intermediary action, may influence
diseased organs.” And Yoga tones up the entire nervous system.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span><br /></span><span>The following quotation of B.K.S Iyengar consolidates the truth of the
might of Yoga: “If you practice Yoga everyday with perseverance, you
will be able to face the turmoil of life with steadfastness and
maturity.” Under the transformative effects of Yoga, sincere
practitioners become an embodiment of divine virtues. Perhaps, for the
very truth, Lord Jesus, Lord Krishna, Lord Buddha, Swami Vivekananda,
Sri Aurobindo, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Paramahansa Yogananda, Swami
Sivananda Saraswati, Yogiraj B.K.S. Iyengar had dived into Yoga.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span><br /></span><span>In his Raja Yoga, Swami Vivekananda wrote, “The fire of Yoga burns the
cage of sin that is around the man…From Yoga comes knowledge; knowledge
again helps the Yogi…..Those that practice Mahayoga, either once a day,
or twice a day, or thrice, or always, know them to be gods….The other
Yogas that we read and hear of, do not deserve to be ranked with the
excellent Mahayoga in which the Yogi finds himself and the whole
universe as God. This is the highest of all Yogas.” The steps of Raja
Yoga are: Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana
and Samadhi.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span><br /></span><span>Yoga is the best of all exercises, best of all hobbies, best method of
character building, best of all sadhanas, best of all therapies, best of
all arts and the best road for building universal brotherhood, which can
be embraced and practised at any age by anyone under the guidance of a
trained teacher or instructor. Lady Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother of
Belgium started practising Sirsasana (headstand) at the age of 86 under
the guidance of B.K.S. Iyengar. The world- renowned philosopher and
educationist J. Krishnamurty (a highly evolved soul) chose the path of
Iyengar Yoga as the best panacea to combat his cancer. With the cancer
and the fire of Yoga, he could live for another 26 years of active life
and died at the age of 90.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span><br /></span><span>Professor Krishnamacharya, the Yoga guru of B.K.S. Iyengar, in his book
Yoga Makaranda (The nectar of Yoga), wrote, “Yoga practices ensure that
the exercises are distributed evenly for all the limbs of the body. It
is Yoga which gives us health and prosperity. It is again yoga which
ensures us a long life. It is Yoga which sharpens our intellect. It is
Yoga which makes us wealthy. It is Yoga which elevates us as human
beings. It is Yoga which makes our country a pure, scintillating jewel.
It is Yoga which enables our intellect to do or not to do. It is again
Yoga which imparts knowledge as to why we were born. To the important
question “Where is God?” It is only Yoga that supplies the answer and
nothing else. We can affirm these with great confidence.” According to
Vedanta, Yoga leads the practitioner from ignorance to knowledge, from
darkness to light and from death to immortality.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span><br /></span><span>In the words of Swami Sivananda Saraswati, through the practice of
Yoga, you can make the whole humanity and all living beings members of
your family. Through the practice of Yoga you can overcome all
difficulties and can eradicate all weaknesses. Through the practice of
Yoga pain can be transmitted into bliss, death into immortality, sorrow
into joy, failure into success and sickness into perfect health.
Therefore, practise Yoga diligently.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span><br /></span><span>According to Swami Vivekananda, Yoga is a raindrop and the yogi is an
oyster, to turn himself or herself into a PEARL.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span><br /></span><span>Santosh Chowdhury,<br /></span><span>Ex-student, Kamakhyaguri High School</span></div>

I was privileged to devote myself to the services of the rapidly rising and shining school in various responsibilities from her birth till December 17, 2007(eleven years). On the joyous occasion, I prostrate to the prestigious school, the pristine mountains, the great kings, the heavenly country, her lovely people, and all living and non-living beings of the kingdom, including the ants and the grains of sand.</span></div><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">My
journey on 14th February 1987 to the mountains of the Royal kingdom as a
teacher was a turning point, significant in many ways. Rays of spiritual light
shone over me from all directions of the pristine land and from every one of
you. In a nutshell, the entire kingdom unfolded to me as a shrine. In
discharging my duties and responsibilities, I experienced supreme delight. So,
even at the odd hours of the night as the health in-charge and matron, I
enjoyed walking from bed to bed and devoting my humble hands and heart to your
services. The virginity of the land drove me towards the higher truths of life
and liberated and protected me from all dehumanizing and degrading untruths. In
every responsibility delegated by my principals, there was invisible divine
guidance and mysterious power.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">From
the hidden treasure of additional responsibilities, a pearl surfaced to me.
While serving as a librarian at Tsebar Primary School, Pemagatshel, desire for
exploration and wisdom blazed in me and my Yoga Guru B.K.S. Iyengar, the
Michelangelo of Yoga, appeared as a guide from the page of a magazine who
guided and lifted me to a higher plane throughout my life in Bhutan. Once in a
Yoga class in Pune, he prophesied: "Yoga will make you a better
teacher." His prophesy fructified. The Royal Government of Bhutan
acknowledged me as an outstanding teacher.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><span>Further
light of Yoga and Vedanta shone in the library of the newly born Nangkor Junior
High School, which took birth in my hand and blossomed to enrich and elevate
the glorious school. The light of the library has brought me a new light and
new sight, and I could discover a magic world in the pages of the books that I
loved and nurtured like a mother. To organize and look after the new library
was a shower of blessings on me from the first headmaster of the school, the
present Home Secretary, Dasho Sonam Wangyel.</span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">In
the matter of you girls, my dear spiritual daughters, when your parents handed
you to me at the girls' hostel, they said, "Sir, from today, you are the
parents of our daughters. We leave them to your care and guidance." My conscience
was touched by their innocent trust and expectations. And, it became my most
sacred responsibility and highest spirituality to look after hundreds of you
for eleven years. My wife and I tried to keep you safe, healthy, and happy. We
are so glad to understand that all of you are living a healthy and prosperous
life.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Dear
Holy Himalayan sons and daughters, as our bond grew more robust and higher
through our mutual love, trust, and respect for each other, you fondly called
me "apchi sir", and I devoutly called you "my Little
Buddhas". This constantly boosted our spirit and contributed to our
health, happiness, and performance.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><span>For
the purity of the mountains and my practice of Yoga-Vedanta, all the three
schools I worked in turned into my holiest shrines. The Mahayoga that has led
me to a blissful life is the most precious gift of Bhutan and Bhutanese
education. The wealth that I value as the most sublime unfolded to me in the
Bhutanese education. </span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span>In his book
"Raja Yoga", Swami Vivekananda wrote: "…. Those that practise
the Mahayoga, either once a day, or twice a day, or thrice a day, or always,
know them to be gods."</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">As
a reward of my spiritual life and work in the kingdom, I have been granted the
privilege of free enrolment at Yoga-Vedanta Forest University, Rishikesh - the
Yoga Capital of the world, for my further learning and refinement. Thus, I have
got a new home at Rishikesh on a Himalayan Mountain above the river Ganga. You
students have been the causes of my new destination at the Yoga capital.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><span>The
shower of blessings of the mountains on me is ceaseless and fathomless. Though
I haven't been privileged to visit any foreign land other than Bhutan, I
received the warmth of many of my foreign brothers and sisters and learned
about their culture and civilization. Travelling from different parts of the
world, they converged on the tiny holy highland as V.S.Os and agents of
different world organizations. I had an educative and elevating association
with many of them. I have seen the world culture and civilization through them.
I realized though we have external differences, it is the same light burning in
all of us. The multitudinous wonders and glories of India also unfolded to me
through my Indian brothers and sisters of diverse cultures and backgrounds of
the different states and territories of the vast land. I have met many heroes
of India in Bhutan. Revered P.P. Krishnan Sir is one of them, who travelled on
foot for twenty-two days to reach his first school in one of the remotest hamlets
of the kingdom. Without travelling to all parts of India, which is a mammoth
task, I learned numerous things about the vast land from my Indian colleagues
and friends. Thus, I have seen the light of all lands in Bhutan.</span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">In
recognition of my humble services, I was abundantly laurelled by the Royal
Government of Bhutan through a series of magnificent ceremonies on the
celebration of the historical Teachers' Day of the kingdom on 2nd May 2018.
According to Panchatantra, an honour by the King is a thing of nectar in life.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">My
salutations to the Himalayan family and the Kingdom for kindling a new light in
my life.</span></p>

the NANGKOR family, including my students, for enabling me to live a splendid
life as a librarian (1997-1998), teacher, health service provider, matron,
counsellor, and Health Club coordinator. My gratitude to the school heads and
the family knows no bound for endowing me with all these responsibilities that
unfolded several avenues to offer sacred services to my Little Buddhas (students),
which humbly I proclaim as my divine life, a way to enlightenment. Sri
Aurobindo said, “The goal of education should be preparation for Divine Life.

with whom I was fortunate to live together and extend my humble hands joined
with the supportive hands of my wife in your services. The school was a field
for me to practise Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, and Raja Yoga – a way

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">During the Divine life training
at Rishikesh, besides our study and lessons on world scriptures, daily we were
engaged in different kinds of selfless services as Karma Yoga or Seva, which
for me, were just reinforcement of the services which I was privileged to
render you students and the school. I remember when Dechen Lhamo, Samdrup
Jongkhar, a student of Class X, in an interview as part of her project work,
had asked me, “Sir what do you think could be the highest attainment in a
teacher’s life?” My intuitive answer was, “A teacher can gain enlightenment
merely by devoting oneself earnestly and passionately to the services of the
students. That is the greatest achievement of a teacher.” The same truth I have
discovered at my mature age through the study of scriptures and my training at
the Divine Life Society, Rishikesh, which has been the most enlightening
training for me. According to Yoga-Vedanta philosophy, which accepts, respects,
and embraces all religions as true, we gain purity of the mind through
selfless services to mankind and other forms of life. We feel one with all for
the purity of mind, breaking our man-made narrow domestic walls. This is what I
experienced in my entire life in Bhutan, especially at Nangkor. I forgot that I
was a foreigner. I enjoyed kinship with everybody and everything around me,
including the ants on my path. Swami Vivekananda said, “God is the sum total of
all souls.” Thus, Nangkor School has been my most remarkable Divine Life
Society today, where I was able to give myself abundantly to the services of
the living gods and goddesses.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">I’m so grateful to Hon’ble Home
Secretary, Dasho Sonam Wangyel, the first Headmaster, who had made the strange
choice of appointing me as the matron, though initially, I had taken it as a
bolt from the blue. I was shocked at the idea of a man living in the girls’
hostel. But it turned out to be the greatest blessing, and I believe it was the
same for my boarder daughters and boarder sons as well. My small hands got the
biggest privilege to serve my spiritual daughters and sons through modern
medical therapy, Ayurveda therapy, counselling therapy, yoga therapy, diet
therapy, etc., for eleven years. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Thank you, Lord, for blessing me
with the two little hands. Thank you Principal Sirs and Madam Principal for
engaging my little life in the holiest and highest services. The
responsibilities that you had entrusted me with brought about a sea change in
my thoughts and attitudes. My small room in the girls’ hostel turned into my
holiest shrine which I had kept equipped with all kinds of resources for the
services to my dear divine sons and daughters. As a changed man now, I realize
through my services to the daughters I actually served my late mother and the
Universal Mother for which I feel blissful and blessed.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Let me reveal to you all that as
a matron supported by my dedicated and devoted housewife, I experienced the
supreme joy as well as heart-breaking pains of looking after our hundreds of
daughters. Among scores of incidents over eleven years, the most nightmarish
was when one of the daughters, Class XI, was lost. And I had received a
threatening call from her father, “You are responsible for my daughter. Within
twelve hours you have to trace my daughter and get her back to the hostel. By
evening I should be able to talk with her.” Hearing this, my world had turned
into a dark labyrinth. Because at her request, she was granted permission by me
to go home with her parents and was supposed to be at home. But the reality had
a complex picture which I failed to smell. Thus, for the missing daughter, I
became a scapegoat. Tormented, I ran in search of my Principal for help. As it
was a Sunday, Sir was in his leisure in a shop at Nangkor market. By a mere
glance at me, my brilliant Principal, Mr. Sherub Gyeltshen, instantly
understood the seriousness of the case and led me to his office. To my utter
amazement, he bravely handled the matter, and within minutes the tempest lost
its power in the Principal’s iron hand. I became safe and comfortable. He
silenced the parent through phone call and traced our daughter with the help of
the police. All the involved characters in the incident were brought back to
school, and the film ended splendidly for the extraordinary leadership of my
Principal. I had a sigh of relief. Thank you, Principal Sir. You were my living
God in that tragedy. Dear daughter, I am happy to understand that you are
living a happy life.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">As providence willed, every boy
and girl of the school was so closely attached to us as if we were their
parents, which provided us the advantage to extend our loving hands and hearts.
My wife and I always wanted to share at least with some of our sons and
daughters our special Indian dishes. As the Girls” Hostel is at the centre of
the school, the aroma of my wife’s food preparation used to fill the air of the
hostel premises. One morning Karma Wangmo, Kalikhola, Class XI, elated by the
aroma of some delicious dishes exclaimed, “Madam, we are enjoying Nose Party!”
I felt touched by her innocent love and attachment to us and said to my wife,
“From today, please make sure that at every meal, at least two girls eat with
us, and this should cover all the girls of the hostel. My wife untiringly and
lovingly engaged her blessed hands to cook for some children daily and serve
them. This was our heavenly joy. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Here is another cherishing
memory. I was privileged to be a hope and strength for Karma Yangdon, Gomdhar,
S/Jongkhar, Class XI Commerce, on her most fatal day at Nangkor. One morning in
a fall from the first floor to the ground floor across the staircase, her
entire lower jaw with all the teeth dislodged with profuse bleeding. Her
friends carried her to me in my room. It was a ghastly scene. Instantly I had
referred her to the hospital. I thought she would be kept in the hospital for
several days. But she was back to the hostel in the evening on completion of
the treatment and advice.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">I felt relieved as well as
worried. Because she couldn't chew food. So, by the guidance of my inner voice,
I said to my wife, “The child should be served with liquid food from our
kitchen till her complete recovery.” As my wife’s hands were always ready for
the services of my dear students, she happily accepted the responsibility. I
called the child and told her, “Karma Yangdon, you should eat all your meals in
our house till your teeth get healthy.” She became happy. My wife, like a
mother, cooked liquid food and served her daily three times. At every meal, the
daughter was with us. After about a month, she regained her oral health and
started living happily and fully. To me, no work and no worship have been so joyous
as it was to serve my loving little Buddhas. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">On my transfer news from Nangkor
in December 2007, the wailing scene of innocent and introverted daughter Karma
Yangdon still appears before me. I was on my chair at breakfast. With a letter
in hand and her tormented face and heavy heart, she walked into my room and
collapsed on my lap, and wailed without uttering any word. I could not resist
my tears. Then she slipped a letter into my shirt pocket and quietly walked
out. After school, I read the letter and got soaked in the daughter's tears
that she had poured into the letter. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">I’m grateful to you all my living
God, Hon’ble Home Secretary Dasho Sonam Wangyel, the first Principal of the
school, Principal Madam Yanki, Principal Jigme Yangtse Sir, Principal Sherub
GyeltshenSir and Principal Tashi Chonjur Sir, for allowing, supporting, guiding
and enabling me to continue to render my humble services at Nangkor School for
more than a decade. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">I am grateful to all my
colleagues and friends, including non-teaching staff, for your enormous
cooperation and contribution to my success. Thank you, my dear boys and girls,
for being the prime pillars and causes for my life at the Girls Hostel, my most
significant temple. My services to you have borne fruits for my family and me.
Thank you, everyone. Please forgive my errors and weaknesses in the letter due
to my ignorance. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">My prayer and best wishes for all
of you -present Principal Sir, former Principal Sirs, Madam Principal, all the
former and present teaching and non-teaching staff, and our angelic sons and
daughters of all the years. May the rays of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations
re-electrify the spirit of the Divine Life School and usher in a new era. Wish
you all best of luck.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Pained by the devastating pandemic, together with you all I pray for eternal peace and rest for the departed souls of our brothers and sisters whom we lost to COVID-19. Simultaneously I also pray for your safety, health and wellbeing.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">It is a bitter truth that the blow of the tiny virus has shaken the might of mankind. Perhaps this bolt from the blue is a warning for us to develop respect for the mother earth and her children in myriads of forms which has been ignored by us for our narrow selfish gains and greed in the name of progress and development.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Whatever may the case or cause, we need not despair and give in. Rather we should stand fearless and fight the calamity tooth and nail. As history and experiences reveal, man has always bounced back and stood victor after his temporary defeat. Joaquin Miller in his COLUMBUS writes: “What shall we do when hope is gone?”/The words leapt like a leaping sword:/ “Sail on! sail on! sail on! and on!”. “This too shall pass away.”</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Instead of bemoaning, let’s be optimistic. Take this situation as a blessing in disguise. Every cloud has a silver lining. As CORONA is attacking us regardless of our religion, caste, creed, wealth, power, position, nationality, etc., it provides us with an opportunity to introspect and rectify our thoughts, attitudes, and behaviours to rebuild the world where we will be able to live in a spirit of Cosmic love and brotherhood in spite of our differences. “WITH MALICE TOWARDS NONE, WITH CHARITY FOR ALL.” It is certain that we are going to have a wonderful world and a blissful life on the elimination of Corona by virtue of the lessons we are learning from its cruelty.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">It is understood and acknowledged by us across the planet that the best weapon to fight the virus is our strong lung-health and lung immunity. And total mankind in all forms has extended his services in numerous ways towards protecting and promoting our lung-health and strengthening our immunity. The old medical saying: “If you are aware that you have lungs, you are already in trouble.” (source: A READER’S DIGEST GUIDE TO HELP YOU LIVE BETTER). So not only during the pandemic, at all times we need to pay extra care to our lungs.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Worldwide acknowledged and adored Yoga teacher, Late B.K.S. Iyengar, in his classic guide to Yoga, LIGHT ON YOGA, has given a prescription on how to promote our lung-health by Asanas and Pranayama on the page No. 501.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">To promote our lung-health, B.K.S. Iyengar in his iconic book has recommended Sirsasana and cycle; Sarvangasana and cycle; Padmasana and cycle; Virasana; Supta Virasana; Paryankasana; all standing positions; Urdha Dhanurasana; Dwipada Viparita Dandasana; all the types of Pranayama.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">If you possess the book, you can refer to it. But practice should be done only under the guidance of a trained and experienced Yoga Practitioner, not merely by using a book, T.V., mobile phone, etc. So, if you want to practice, get in touch with an experienced practitioner and instructor. You can even contact me for guidance. I learned the art directly from Late B.K.S. Iyengar at his Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute, PUNE, and have been in practice for more than 25 years. My mobile No. 7679105116. As it has become a dire need for every one of us to promote our lung-health and immunity by various means, I am passionate to extend my humble hand in this sacred service through Yoga asanas and Pranayama. I will feel privileged if some of our brothers and sisters are benefitted from my humble service. I served several aspirants in Bhutan as well as in India with wonderful results. These days I am teaching some seekers online.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Yoga does help man in countless ways but costs us almost nothing. According to medical science, those who practice Yoga- asanas and Pranayama regularly are better equipped to combat Corona. I feel highly assured that with the daily practice of the specific guided asanas and pranayama we can fight COVID-19 victoriously as they have a toning and vitalizing effect on the lungs.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Yoga is not a religion. It is a subjective art for the health and wellbeing of all mankind. It is time for us to break all narrow domestic walls and to live and work in a spirit of Universal brotherhood. Age is not a bar for Yoga. Queen Elizabeth of Belgium learned Sirshasana ( head- stand pose) from Late B.K.S. Iyengar at the age of 84.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">With best wishes and prayer for all of you,</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Yours sincerely,</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Santosh Chowdhury</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div></span></span><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div> Santosh Chowdhuryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04658636315801339087noreply@blogger.com0Uttar Kamakhyaguri, West Bengal 736202, India26.4633681 89.7168647-3.8333542486081029 54.5606147 56.7600904486081 124.8731147tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5024505644114262722.post-68231151932893583692021-02-21T08:28:00.004+05:302023-08-27T15:18:39.992+05:30MY PRAYERS AND GREETING<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://in.pinterest.com/pin/393783561159229004/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1506" data-original-width="1020" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOIQLtpG_KOcuszFzgz4BZl3t64LKPvQV1bDVV4iI4nEELSYugZQ7NiEui7xd9Tzlm559e7hEMp7uACu9_7sfABx4_2le1OG1g3gDUnr65K6Ihe4yA8Do44c86sVhci4Qk37W-R_cZtEtE/w434-h640/8b2d0bf311991d89a94c009f283f11f0.jpg" width="434" /></span></a></div><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">On the

steadily.</span></div></div><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">I have been living an ecstatic
life by virtue of our Divine Life training. I have now better feelings and
understanding of the course and of our mysterious togetherness from different
parts of the world. This is because I have learned more about Yoga-Vedanta through
living an inner life which is a gift of the lock down world presented by
COVID-19. I have finished reading most of the Jnan Prasad books which we were
presented on completion of the course. From the shower of blessings of the
course which I feel has been a preparatory training for us to live and grow
abundantly in the lock down world. I realize the almighty always gives His hand
to protect, guide and drive us to safer, deeper and higher life when we have a
thirst for it.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">To me, the Divine Life society is
an embodiment of pure, perfect and glorious Mother India. If I had not attended
the course, I would have remained ignorant about the spiritual and cultural
glories of India. The course has endowed me with new eyes and new vision. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">In the corona - governed world I
have been always hearing the echoes of our Swamijis’ truth-laden wisdom which
they voiced several times during the course: “You forty-two participants are
among the most fortunate people to be able to undergo this training. You have
merited this fortune by virtue of your righteous life and living in the past.” <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">As Corona attacked the world soon
after our course, I have now better realization of the truth voiced by the Divine
teachers.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Yes, this course has been a
gift of God for all of us to live a blissful inner life in the lock down world.
We have been fully equipped with Yoga and the nectar of Vedanta to live an
inner life for our enhancement.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">We are so much blessed to have
been trained on Yogic asanas and Pranayama as a part of the course which are
the free and best preventive as well as curative medicine against Corona and
all other ailments. No other forms of exercise, medicine or tonic is parallel
to Yoga because Yoga endows us with physiological, psychological, spiritual,
intellectual and so many other forms of health for a blissful life. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Brothers, you will be glad to
hear that I won a Platinum Certificate from Auro University of Gujrat last year
on International Yoga Day for performing 120 cycles of Surya Namaskar in an
hour at their Yoga Festival. This victory has geared up my confidence manifold.
Because we all remember how difficult it was for us to perform only the 12
cycles of Surya Namaskar at our daily Yoga class in the evening. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">From this marvelous experience I
have learned that our nervous system is the secret store of our strength and stamina,
which is toned up by Yoga- asanas and Pranayama. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">The other day I shared this
fantastic experience with my beloved elder brother, Mr. K.P.Singh, (my room-
mate, Room No. 12) over phone. He was so <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>happy and inspired that he advised me to share
this with all the divine brothers of our 93rd Yoga-Vedanta Course.
Accordingly, I am writing this letter to all of you.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">His Holiness Swami Sivananda Maharaj wrote: “It
is better to aim at a lion and miss it than to hunt a jackal and catch it.”
Yes, I realized the truth of the divine wisdom. When we aim at higher or
greater things we are supplied with the required capacity to perform it by the
Cosmic Force or our Supreme Father.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">For our high aim and dream, we 42 brothers have
been abundantly showered with blessings to be able to live a dynamic, dignified,
divine and blissful life by virtue of the divine lessons and disciplines we
were imparted at the Course. We are so grateful to all the Swamijis and the
Divine Life Society at large.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">That’s all for today. My regards
and best wishes to all of you and to your family members.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">God loves you, so do I.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

This is my findings of age, experience, and study as a senior teacher and a

I share an aristocrat senior couple’s way of their daughter’s birthday
celebration which fell yesterday, Sunday 27 December, that has a profound message
for all parents to raise happy and successful children and happy family. They
are one of the happiest, healthiest, noblest, and prosperous families of
Tufangunj, Cooch Behar, West Bengal. The parents said, “We don’t celebrate 25

themselves to perform a series of inner disciplines, like washing and bathing
at dawn, chanting prayers and holy books, fasting, preparing to visit
Hanuman Mandir and other sanctifying activities. They drove to my hometown,
Kamakhyaguri, from Tufangunj in order to offer their prayer to Lord Hanumana at
my hometown in the wellbeing of their married daughter who lives with her

Though it is unbelievable it did happen. We all were taken aback and
thrilled by the splendid sight. From this amazing occurrence, I have realized

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: x-large; line-height: 107%;">My dear students,<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: x-large; line-height: 107%;">Inspired by my changes during my stay in Bhutan my late
father asked me to write a book on my experiences in the kingdom, as a service
to mankind. Towards that goal, I am writing his dream-book entitled: BHUTAN – MY
LIGHT TO THE ROYAL ROAD. I request your participation in the book, especially
about my wife’s role and support in my teaching career as you saw.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: x-large; line-height: 107%;">Some of you might be remembering that in 1995 at Tsebar Primary
School Class PP and Class One used to go empty and unengaged for shortage of
teachers. Pained for those children, and to support the school, I proposed to
the Headmaster, Mr. Sonam Tobgye, offering my wife’s volunteer service to look
after the classes. My wise Headmaster granted the proposal. My wife was happy
to perform the sacred job. Thus, she looked after those children for several
months though she was then nil in English speaking. But those angels became her
English teacher. By the goodwill and guidance of the Headmaster and by virtue
of the children’s love, she improved her English speaking dramatically. May be
after about six months, on the recommendation of Headmaster Sir, she was
appointed as a temporary teacher by the Dzongkhag Administration.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: x-large; line-height: 107%;">At Nangkor H. S. School, in addition to my teaching, I was
blessed to be entrusted to serve you (students) and the school as Librarian
(1997 & 98 ), Health service provider, Counsellor, Home Science Club Coordinator
and Matron to look after the Girls’ Hostel for eleven years. And you children
saw how she supported me in the discharge of my duties at Nangkor.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: x-large; line-height: 107%;">Though Wangchu Middle Secondary School was a day school and as
a housewife she was away from the school, yet her support to me in different
ways in serving you and the school might have had been noticed by some of you. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: x-large; line-height: 107%;">In a nutshell, I want to say she was my main pillar behind
what I did in Bhutan and the transformation that took place in me. My life in Bhutan
was purely a spiritual journey. I am
sharing about the journey in the book.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: x-large; line-height: 107%;">So, if you want to write something about your experiences
with us for the book, you can.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

am a reborn Indian through the grace of the Bhutanese King who is a brilliant
embodiment of the Almighty Lord Himself. It is the King who injected in me a
new spirit to feel proud of my Mother India – a fiery spirit of patriotism, on their auspicious Teachers' Day, May 2, ( 2020), at the historic celebration of the Fifty Years of Enduring Friendship
between India and Bhutan in the capital city of the nation,Thimphu. Since the Divine
king’s grace and amazing recognition of the Indian teachers for our humble
services in the kingdom, a chain of miracles and marvels occurred in my life whose
culmination I experienced yesterday, on our 74</span>th<span> Independence Day (15
August 2020). </span><span> </span><span>Mother India showered all her blessings upon me with her generous and bountiful hands.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">All
good things in life happen by the grace of God which must be sung as gratitude
prayers. I narrate the following story as my gratitude prayer. The Royal recognition has made me a
special citizen in the eyes of Dr Nilratan Sarkar, a renowned dental surgeon
of Tufangunj under Cooch Behar district of West Bengal. The doctor has been so
much inspired by the news that
for the last two years I have been always treated as a guest of honour in his multifaceted SEVA centre. Thus, my every
visit almost every month has been a felicitation ceremony. Despite his
hectic schedule in serving dozens of patients daily from far and wide, he
creates special moments to extend his heartiest hospitality to me. Beside his
different gestures of hospitality and humanity, the doctor has been earnestly nourishing my oral health, beautifying my face and rejuvenating my life with his
astoundingly skilled hands, holy heart and profound wisdom as a token of his
love and generosity. Though it is a lockdown world, the doctor remains busy day in
and day out serving the flood of needy patients. Our Independence Day 2020 was
no exception. But I was a priority in his schedule of the auspicious day. It
was in his thought to bestow recognition on me formally on behalf of our Indian
nation on the 74th Independence Day. Accordingly, a week ago I was
asked to visit his service centre on the day. All plan and preparation
were up to the peak. I went to the doctor with my son. We were extended the
heartiest welcome. After refreshment, the doctor had informed me of his plan. I
felt overwhelmed by the touch of his incredible love and patriotism. Then he plunged in pouring
the shower of his honour and recognition. My eyes welled up with tears for the
bliss of Mother India’s sacred touch through the generous touch of the doctor.
Through the doctor’s hands, I felt the touch of the Divine hands of Mother India and of the hands of my one hundred thirty
crores sisters and brothers of India. The doctor reiterated his admiration
and appreciation about my contribution to the Bhutanese education and the Royal Government’s
sky-high recognition. He said, “On behalf of our Indian nation, I bestow upon
you this honour which you deserve and was long due.” To me, the doctor's recognition has been like an
Indian national award. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Though
chronologically I am at the dusk of my life but a dawn has broken in my
spirit at 63 for the doctor’s gestures of generosity. In response to the glorious event, I declared “I am a reborn Indian today. A great responsibility
for my country and countrymen descends on me. Henceforth I will live in the
thought and spirit – ‘Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you
can do for your country’. I pledge to devote the rest of my life to moulding myself into a responsible citizen, knowing my
country and countrymen and to learning our Indian culture and tradition which
has been eclipsed by Western culture.” </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">The
striking occasion reminds me of Dale Carnegie who wrote: We nourish the bodies
of our children and friends and employees, but how seldom do we nourish their
self-esteem? We provide them with roast beef and potatoes to build energy, but
we neglect to give them kind words of appreciation that would sing in their
memories for years like the music of the morning stars.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Dr.
Nilratan Sarkar is a man of multi-talents and traits who injects new life and
flaming spirit into his visitors besides providing unparalleled oral health
services. Many come to him depressed and go back cheerful and vibrant. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Spiritual
Emerson writes “…..And this witty malefactor makes their little hope less with
satire and skepticism, and slackens the springs of endeavour. Yes, this is easy;
but to help the young soul, add energy, inspire hope and blow the coals into a

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Dr B.M. Hegde in his celebrated
book ' What Doctors Don't Get to Study in Medical School' wrote: If one treats
nature as our mother, she would nourish us; if abused, she would kick us. In as
much as most of the true Yogis have always taken shelter in the lap of nature, and
nurtured and adored nature, and thereby charged themselves with the mysterious
power of nature and rose to a supreme height in life.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">I savoured the nectar of nature
and saw the best manifestations of God in the pristine forests and mountains of
the tiny kingdom, Bhutan, that instilled in me multiple values. Nature is
indeed the best educator.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">The more I age, the more I adore
the 2nd of June. Because the auspicious day, the Coronation Day of the visionary
The fourth King of Bhutan, His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuk, is observed as the
Social Forestry Day for the nation.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Nature receives the highest
worship from the nation on this day. To commemorate the Coronation Anniversary
of the great King, the nation engages themselves in planting saplings and
promoting forest coverage and environment.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">As an ex-teacher of the kingdom,
I reminisce the beauty and gaiety of every student and teacher's enthusiasm in
planting saplings and nurturing forests to commemorate the auspicious occasion.
Today, with my higher age and further learning I have come to know that
promoting nature and environment is a very important part of Maha Yoga. I feel
blessed for my strong bond with the nature that has grown through nurturing
forests in Bhutan, especially on this day, 2nd June. As a senior citizen, I
would assert that if Bhutan is one of the happiest and healthiest countries as
recognised by the world, her priority for nature and eco-friendly development
is the main pillar for that.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Norman Vincent Peale writes:
"... Man is nature's child and therefore God's child. And when he turns
for a build-up of spirit to the woods and seas and waterfalls and meadows lying
in the sun, the upthrust will come surging into his heart...."</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">My obeisance to our beloved Great
King on the auspicious 46th Coronation day for his astounding wisdom in
prioritising and promoting nature and echo-friendly development policy. I pray
for His Majesty's sound health, happiness and long life.</span></p><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>Santosh Chowdhuryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04658636315801339087noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5024505644114262722.post-69874104971177449002020-05-03T00:08:00.002+05:302023-08-27T15:21:24.743+05:30LIGHT OF DIVINE LIFE - GIFT OF BHUTANESE EDUCATION<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">According to Sri Aurobinda, </span><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">Education is the preparation for the divine life. Through the virtue of Bhutanese education, I have experienced the above truth. I used to share with my friends and colleagues and students in Bhutan: "For a teacher, school is the best temple; and his/her devotion to the duties is the highest form of worship to God.</span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><span>To my utter astonishment, at the age of sixty - one, last year, I was granted a Yoga-Vedanta Training at The Divine Life Society, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India, through an eligibility test. I had to write a 500 - word Note about my life, spiritual background, and aspirations, and plans to qualify for the course, w.e.f. 19. 08. '19 to 17. 10. ' 19. <span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">The Note was simply a narration of my job responsibilities </span><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">as a teacher, contribution to education, and of the recognition by The Royal </span><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">Government of Bhutan. And this was enough for the authorities to consider me an </span><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">eligible candidate for the noble course - the highest education of my life. </span><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">From this, I realized that my entire teaching career in Bhutan was a </span><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">preparation for this Divine Life Training.</span></span><br />
<span><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"><br /></span></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Serve, Love, Give, Purify, Meditate, and Realize were the main components of the training. And in Bhutan, I was privileged to practice all of the above values as Matron (Nangkor Central School), Health Service Provider, Counsellor, Yoga Club Coordinator, Students Support Service Coordinator and Librarian( Tsebar, Nangkor), besides classroom teaching.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><span>The spiritual treasure of the world scriptures surfaced to me in the libraries. My Yoga Guru, Yogacharya B.K. S. Iyengar, the greatest boon of my life, has been a light in the library at Tsebar. Here I see the reality of Swami Vivekananda's thought: " If education were identical with information, the libraries would be the greatest sages in the world and encyclopedias the rishis."</span><br />
<span><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">At the end of the course, I had to sit for Written and Viva-Voce tests in ten papers. They were: History of Indian Philosophy, History of Western Philosophy, Philosophy of Swami Sivananda, Studies in Religious
Consciousness, Study of the Bhagavad-Gita, Study of Upanishads, Patanjali's
Yoga Sutras, Narada Bhakti Sutras, Asana, Pranayama and Meditation, and Karma Yoga(practical). My performance in all the subjects and other areas was highly rated, and I received a certificate of recognition.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">No extra preparation was necessary for me for the course and examinations. My path to this Divine Life course got paved by the education of The Royal Government of Bhutan. My experiences of teaching, learning, and serving the students were the pillars of this big prize.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><span>Through this course, I have learned that every teacher can live a Divine Life and soar higher by merely discharging the duties assigned by the Principal with the highest degree of dedication and devotion and by serving the students in their needs. Every ounce of our present thought, attitudes, and actions influences our destiny tomorrow. Thank you, my revered Principals, dear colleagues and friends, and the angelic students for enabling me to live a divine life in Bhutan.</span><br />

Bhatt, Bombay, Maharastra, published in 2001: Science Today, June 1990 issue.</span></div><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">... Yoga does not just involve body gymnastics but it is a psychic and spiritual phenomenon that joins one with the supreme power....... Yoga is something subtle that the mind experiences and hence planting electrodes on a yogi's body and reading various physiological parameters on a polygraph will not reveal anything; it would be as effective as measuring the depth of the sea by dipping into it a scale made of salt!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
</span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

<span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Says Aurobindo: " It is my experience that pranayama makes one's intellect sharper. I felt that there was a great accession of light and power to the mind....... I used to write poetry at Baroda (1904-1905). I could write only about 200 lines a month. After I began pranayama, I could compose 200 lines in half an hour..... and remembered it fully, till I committed it to paper..... I felt that my brain was encircled by a ring of electricity ...... Poetry came like a river and prose like a flood and other things, too, that were mental, vital and psychical...." This experience of Aurobindo's "words flowing from a source above mind" is similar to that experienced by Swami Vivekananda when he addressed the Parliament of Religions at Chicago.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Swami Vivekananda's phenomenal memory to quote any topic verbatim from Encyclopaedia Britannica is attributed to his practice of yoga. Aurobindo was found in a yogic pose of levitation in Alipore Jail. His whole body was in a peculiar pose balanced only on one knee! His hair acquired an oily shine there and in later years his body had an extraordinary golden shine...</div>

To me, the address has been a holy text. So, I have preserved the speech published in The Telegraph, Calcutta, Thursday, October 7, 2010, as a priceless asset for its humanising and stimulating potency. <br /></span></span></div><div><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">
The message of the speech today in the Corona afflicted
world sounds louder and more relevant. The content clearly outlines the causes
of today's disaster and provides guidelines on how to rebuild a better world. I
find a total manifestation of the speech in His Majesty's leadership in protecting and propelling the nation today. The Bhutanese Government, under His Majesty's guidance, is rescuing and saving not only the Bhutanese from
different parts of the world but also some of the Non-Bhutanese from the claws
of Corona. No life has been lost to Corona in Bhutan in the compassionate care
and guidance of the Divine King.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">
An American Corona-victim tourist was treated at Bhutanese
hospital, healed, and safely reached back home, America, by the Royal
Government. In another instance, a single Bhutanese woman has
been brought back home from Singapore by a Bhutanese helicopter. Under the guidance of His Majesty The King, the Government has taken so much care of the citizens that students and every other Bhutanese abroad are safely back home. Those who are in quarantine are also in excellent care. A few who were afflicted with the Virus abroad have
been brought back home, treated, and healed. I feel assured no one is going to
be defeated by Corona in Bhutan for the incredible compassion of The King for
his people.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">
As we see the world picture today, in no other country, the
citizens are being taken care of as it is in Bhutan. Mother Teresa said, "
Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a
much greater hunger, much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to
eat." In that sense, Bhutan today is not only one of the happiest but also
the wealthiest country in the world where every citizen is wanted, loved, and
cared for. The material might, negligent of the humanitarian and spiritual light
of the mightiest nations, have become helpless today. The present world
abounds in skyscrapers and palatial houses but lacks home for lack of love for
fellow beings. Our beloved King so beautifully poured his wisdom of eternal
truth in his resurrecting speech: "......All these buildings, monuments,
this life that we hold so dear - all of these must give way and perish - not
Values - Values of kindness, integrity, justice. Even death shall not
extinguish them......... Our generation is called upon to rethink, to
redefine the true purpose of growth....." <br />
<br />
Bhutanese nation is a personification of: " Humanity is the mother of all religions." I remember my friend and colleague Mr. Somarajan at Nangkor Central School saying at my farewell party on December 17, 2007: "... The care and goodwill Chowdhury sir received from the Bhutanese people during sir's sickness last year(2006). <span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">I doubt whether he would get such love and care even in his </span><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">hometown." This is a bitter truth shared by outspoken Mr. Somarajan. </span><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">I believe Bhutan has become home to all whoever has lived there as it is to me.</span></span></div>

It is a unique and unparalleled country where humans are
treated with dignity and offered honour and appreciation by the Government even for their smallest forms of services to the nation with the least kind of
injustice. I felt ecstatic with heavenly joy and emotion on May 2, 2018, at
Changlingmithang, Thimphu, to receive unprecedented and astounding hospitality, honour and recognition as a guest of honour along with my 42 Indian colleagues to the kingdom's historic Teacher's Day celebration to mark 50 years of diplomatic ties between Bhutan and India. As all the former Indian teachers who had worked in Bhutan could not be accommodated in the historical celebration, a separate Reception Programme was organised in Kolkata, India, on January 6, 2019, with a view to shower recognition to the rest of the Indian teachers. This gesture of appreciation for our services in the education of the kingdom was bestowed upon us by The Royal Government at the command of His Majesty The King. The history of humankind may not have witnessed such a terrific honour for the teachers elsewhere on the planet.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>If I had not worked and lived in Bhutan, I would not have known that human beings can be treated with such sky-high love and dignity. To reciprocate the grand gesture of goodwill, I reaffirm my pledge to remain loyal and faithful to the Tsa-Wa-Sum till my last breath.</span></div>

In Bhutan, the beloved Kings are the manifestations of Lord Himself, which is in line with the philosophy of The Bhagavad Gita. Here the Kings are the embodiments of real dharma and righteousness. My tears of joy and emotion rolled down on November 6, 2008, to see our Fourth Druk Gyalpo gently placing the Raven Crown on the head of his son, the fifth King of Bhutan, His
Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk. The picture of this sacred event speaks volumes about the supreme height of the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, which inspires millions and adds a new chapter to human history. When our history is replete with examples of violence and bloodshed for mere greed of power and position, the Great Fourth abdicated the throne like the great King Ashoka. It ushered in a new era of democracy in the kingdom. I do not know any country in the world where democracy blossomed without violence. For endless wisdom and boundless vision of the Great Fourth, Bhutan has made unprecedented progress in all spheres of life and emerged as one of the happiest nations. Without any material might the name and fame of Bhutan and the Bhutanese have spread far and wide for the indescribable beauty and bliss of the kingdom. To the world tourists, The Last Shangri la is now the most attractive place. It is all because of the marvellous leadership of the Kings, especially The Fourth.</span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">
In the Corona- scourged world, the best and worst of every
country, and the strengths and weaknesses of every leader has surfaced more
vividly than ever before. I have seen the different kinds of hidden poverty,
especially the misery of humanity, in the so-called richest and hi-tech,
advanced countries, under the mask of material glamour. Thus, I have lost my
long-standing interest in visiting those countries. But the hidden beauty and might of Bhutan and her leadership has shone
more vigorously than ever before. In as much as my love and interest in Bhutan
has grown multifold. My Bhutanese brothers and sisters should turn
inward to see, explore, and nurture the inner beauty- the beauty of Bhutanese
values. "Civilisation is not built by machines but by values."</span></div>

Since the Corona outbreak, I have been in constant touch
with Bhutan and the rest of the world. I have noticed countless different
aspects of life in different countries. But I discovered a common thing in
every nation except Bhutan -- that is frustration and unhappiness among
citizens. When people in other countries are shouting and complaining against
the Governments and leadership, Bhutanese citizens are celebrating their joy
and appreciation for the love and care of the King and Government in
the scourge of Corona. This is the best indication of the astounding success of
the GNH philosophy of the Fourth Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuk.</span></div>

His Majesty The Fifth Druk Gyalpo at his stirring speech of
October 5, 2010, at Kolkata, wished for millions of Mahatmas saying: " We
need millions of Mahatmas, but history has given us only one." The
psychology of 'Thought Power ' teaches us one becomes what he thinks. As driven
by the highest thought-oriented leadership and actions, I see modern Mahatmas
in the Kings of Bhutan. Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore's prayer is relevant
here: .......Where the mind is led forward by thee/ Into ever-widening thought
and actions - / Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.</span></div>

V. Jayan on the scientific evidence of the benefits of yogic postures, especially Surya Namaskar that convinces us to harvest the health benefits of morning walk in the lockdown world through Surya Namaskar. " The "S.N." in his name does not stand for "Surya Namaskar". But it may not be inappropriate for S.N. Omakar, an aerospace researcher at the Banglore-based Indian Institute of Science (IISc), to have the term as his second name, considering his contribution to the art of yoga, particularly Surya Namaskar or Sun Salutation. Omkar --- who is also the yoga coach of the Indian Cricket team --- recently demonstrated why Surya Namaskar is one of the best forms of exercise for the human body. And that's a claim he supports with his own scientific studies.</span></div><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><span class="text_exposed_show" face=""helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif" style="background-color: white; display: inline;"><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div></span>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">According to a study by him that appeared last week in the journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies, regularly practising Surya Namaskar aids in bone formation (osteogenesis) and bone remodelling.........Independent experts agree that performing Surya Namaskar every day greatly benefits mental and physical wellbeing......... To prove his point, Omkar developed a mathematical model to tabulate the forces acting on the various joints in the body ---- such as wrists, elbows, shoulders, hip, knees, and ankles ---- during the 10 different postures the exercise involves.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">According to him, a major joint is overstressed during any of the sequences. At the same time, the activity burns calories at rates comparable to those of many rigorous aerobic exercises. For instance, quoting his own earlier work, the IISc scientist says that if a person weighing 70 kg does the exercise 120 times at a stretch ---- and this can be done in around 55 minutes --- he or she could burn up to 380-kilo calories, which is almost equal to the energy expenditure in one hour of brisk walking. A product of B.K.S. Iyengar School of Yoga in Pune, Omkar was always interested in unravelling the science behind different yoga postures. An opportunity beckoned to him when recently the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) approached him for a project............ Whatever be the research methodology, one thing seems clear: understanding the scientific basis of yoga asanas and pranayamas will enable their use in therapy in a more effective manner."</span></div>

The thymus gland seems to be involved in another 'death-defying' process of yoga called Viparita-Karani (or Sarvangasana, also called ' mother of all asanas' by yogis like Iyengar). The thymus, crucial to our immune systems, is the first gland in the body to atrophy. We start with 200 and 250 g at birth. After puberty, the gland begins to shrink rapidly and by the time we are into our sixth decade, it is merely a clump weighing 3g ! The thymus is not only involved in our immune response to fight invading disease organisms, it is involved also in variety of hormone pathways including weight control and production of beta-endorphin, or the 'feel good' chemical in the brain.....The thymus and its hormones control the production of white blood cells called T cells. These are called the 'brains and brawn' of our body's immune system..... The thymosins invigorate this entire immunological system. But the thymosin hormones do a whole lot of other tricks to rejuvenate the entire system, Allan Goldstein, the ace biochemist at George Washington University, USA, has found. His four-year-old prediction, that thymosins would be the world's first anti-ageing pills to hit the market, was fulfilled not in the West but in the USSR last year. However, hundreds of years ago, Indian yogis seemed to have discovered a route to these supplements through stimulative poses that work on the glandular system. ..........Hard-nosed researchers are uncovering dimensions through which yoga works its 'wonders' on the human body........."</span></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">For the above amazing facts, it is the need of the hour for everyone to practise yoga, irrespective of our age, gender, cultural background, etc. in addition to the other directives of the WHO and our respective Govt. Guruji wrote in his legendary book 'Light on Yoga': " Hope should be the shield and courage, the sword." This rekindles our hope and spirit to battle against the devil with the divine weapon of Yoga. If Guruji were alive today, he would definitely say, " Don't worry, Corona affliction has prevention and cure!" Here is a report of Guruji's message published by Sunday magazine, dated April 10, 1999, Kolkata, on the deadliest diseases: DON'T DESPAIR, AIDS HAS CURE ------- Good news for the HIV - afflicted: there is, apparently a yogic anodyne for AIDS. B.K.S Iyengar, who started practicing this ancient form of mind-body exercise way back in 1936, says that his brand of yoga covers everything from the common cold to this modern-day scourge. To the tough-looking, media-savvy guru -- "Yoga was an organic exercise; I made it into an art" -- who has about 200 yoga centers named after him around the world, also claims that a few hospitals even practice his line of treatment for cardiac illness................ He should be knowing: at his age most of us would be doddering old men. The above igniting message of the revered Yoga teacher has profound relevance today in the scourge of Corona. To prevent Corona we need organic health, not merely muscular health. And Yoga does that job wonderfully. In Yoga Rahasya, Vol.7, No.1, Guruji shared: "We only speak of physical health but that is meaningless, the organic health is real health."</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">The science of the organic or physiological body is explicitly explained by Nobel laureate, Dr. Alexis Carrel, in Chapter 3 of his celebrated book 'Man The Unknown '. From my study and experience, I understand an empire is hidden in the nervous system of each and every human being which can be unlocked through the practice of Yoga. Because it is a holistic and transformative science. Dr. Paul Joire, President of the society of Universal Psychological study, wrote: "..........the nervous system controls the whole organism. The muscles are made to move by the nerves; the nerves regulate the circulation of the blood by their direct action on the heart and by their action on the blood vessels which they dilate or contract. Therefore, the nerves act on all the organs and, by their intermediary action, may influence diseased organs."</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Guruji Iyengar in his book ' Light on Life 'writes: "We are wrong to think that we are all dull and inert. If your fire were extinguished, you would not be alive. Yogic fire exists in a latent or pristine state in everyone." According to him, with just breath and soul and courage, a human being can achieve a life to be admired. Through Yoga, a practitioner gets united with God. So, nothing can be impossible for him. To an Astanga Yoga practitioner, the last days of life become of his/her best days. Emile Coue in his book 'SELF MASTERY' wrote: "....To become stronger as you become older may seem to be paradoxical, but it is true..." Yes, the eight limbs of Yoga does make it possible. By the ladder of Yoga, every human being can become a god, and thus the entire human race can become our family. To a Yogi, God appears, not only in human beings but also in all other living and non-living beings.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">For the shower of Yoga, which is a blessing of God, the three schools in Bhutan where I worked turned my Yoga Universities. I had abundant opportunities to practice the yogic principles (Karma Yoga) as a teacher, librarian, matron, counsellor, health service provider, Yoga trainer, etc. in the superb education system of the Royal Kingdom of Bhutan. My students turned my gods and goddesses who were my opportunities to practice Karma Yoga. For that, I used to call them "Little Buddhas." I have realized the truth of Guruji's wisdom: " Yoga does not just change the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees."</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">My yogic life in Bhutanese schools had paved my path for Yoga-Vedanta training, the highest education for my higher life, at Rishikesh, Yoga-Vedanta Forest Academy, in 2019. My Yoga teacher, Shri B.K.S. Iyengar, who surfaced in my life at Tsebar Primary School, a remote school of Eastern Bhutan, was a man of unparalleled compassion, who guided me through personal letters, his books, lectures and his loving touch at his Yoga Institute, Pune, with equal importance as he guided the famous philosopher, J. Krishnamurty, Jayprakash Narayan and the world-renowned violinist Yehudi Menuhin, though my identity was only a humble primary school teacher. To him, no one in the world was unimportant or less important. At my request, Guruji even provided me guidance and syllabus to teach Yoga to my Bhutanese students accompanied with a letter dated 13 March 2000. Such is the grandeur and splendour of Yoga and my Yoga teacher. I offer my obeisance to Guruji.</span></div><div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Link: </span></div><h1 style="-webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased; background-color: white; box-sizing: inherit; line-height: 2.3rem; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; width: 751.037px;"><span style="font-weight: normal;"><font face="Scheherazade New" size="6"><a href="https://www.dalailama.com/news/2010/dalai-lama-in-conversation-with-indian-yogic-master-bks-iyengar" target="_blank">Dalai Lama in Conversation with Indian Yogic Master BKS Iyengar</a></font></span></h1></div>Santosh Chowdhuryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04658636315801339087noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5024505644114262722.post-2055584763330113002020-04-01T15:38:00.003+05:302023-08-27T15:23:56.719+05:30COMBAT CORONA WITH YOGA!<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Inspired by the advocacy of Yoga to combat Corona by the Director of WHO and impelled by my conscience I venture to share my humble knowledge and experiences of Yoga. I have been a direct Yoga student of the Michelangelo of Yoga, Shri <a href="http://bksiyengar.com/">B. K. S. Iyengar</a>, Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute, Pune, since 1994, and an ardent reader of the science and philosophy of Yoga. And for this, Yoga is the noblest and surest path. Yogacharya B. K. S. Iyengar said, " Yoga is the mother of all arts." According to him, our mind functions through the nervous system. And Yoga tones up our nervous system." When our nervous system is strong, we can overcome all obstacles of life and overpower even the deadliest enemy like the Corona. By toning up the nervous system, Yoga enhances our immune system. Nobel Laureate, Dr. Alexis Carrel in his book ' Man the Unknown' wrote: "....... Mental and nervous strength is infinitely more important than muscular strength...." I request all the readers to read the Chapter III (Body And Physiological Activities) of ' Man the Unknown ' in order to understand the role and importance of our strong nervous system. And Yoga is an unparalleled art in building that heaven. The world-famous Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Jung wrote: "No system of thought or body control is more widely known today than Yoga. .......its doctrine and method which include every phase of life, it promises undreamed Possibilities." (Source: Great Minds on India --- by <a href="http://facebook.com/gewalisalil.gewali">Salil Gewali</a>) " Yoga Shastra, the Science of Yoga, ....... is one of India's greatest contributions to the world, in the sphere of maintaining good health and peaceful living. This is once again the need of the hour today, in a world torn into pieces by hatred, greed, and strife " wrote Dr. B. M. Hegde in his book ' What Doctors Don't Get to Study in Medical School. He also wrote: " Yoga leads the way." Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar wrote:" Yoga does not just change the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees."</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Swami Vivekananda's Raja Yoga asserts: "........He who combines in himself both Yoga and knowledge, with him the Lord is pleased. Those that practice Maha Yoga(Raja Yoga), either once a day, or twice a day, or thrice, or always, know them to be gods." According to Dr. Alexis Carrel, our conduct and the quality of thoughts depend, in a large measure, on the state of our circulatory apparatus. Yoga does exercises marvellous effect on our circulatory apparatus.</span></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Yoga is a secular and sacred subject. It is not a religion. But it is not contradictory to any religion. Though it originated from India, it is for the wellbeing of all mankind. From the age of six, anyone at any age can take to Yoga for a new taste of life. However, Yoga should be learned under the guidance of a trained teacher. Those who have learned the art, for you this lockdown period is a boon to make your practice perfect and profound. Through regular practice, you will emerge a better human being. Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar during one of the Classes at Pune said to me, "Yoga will make you a better teacher." And in May 2018, I was given that recognition by the Royal Government of Bhutan.</span></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Lord Yehudi Menuhin, the world-famous German violin maestro, after learning Yoga from Guruji wrote in a letter, "........ I have never enjoyed as good concerts or as much control over my violin playing as I do now: much of that is your merit." (Source: Yog Rahasya Vol.6, No.2)</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Guruji has poured incredible wisdom in his last book ' Light on Life': "......From your physical body, you will journey inward to discover your "subtle bodies" --- your energy body, where breath and emotions reside; your mental body, where thoughts and obsession can be mastered; your intellectual body, where intelligence and wisdom can be found; and your divine body, where the Universal soul can be glimpsed."</span></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">So, let's practice Yoga to turn the calamity into an opportunity. God has created you with a great purpose. God loves you, and so do I.</span></div>Santosh Chowdhuryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04658636315801339087noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5024505644114262722.post-8405311984124766322019-05-01T09:15:00.006+05:302023-08-27T15:24:15.679+05:30A TRIBUTE TO 2nd MAY, BHUTANESE TEACHERS’ DAY<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijhpSFnsGDVm7XB9KFqzQzDoFbLvnlI7HI5fuQIjoopludkvdtp5DypOoKX3m2YA-cX6wW5YcvCP-ATDcKk_YjfvEcZ91ZSu3s_i4I6l-toD6lCmLeQXEPE3zGgkP20dWG9KbGEUcfGMrk/s1600/Scan1.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijhpSFnsGDVm7XB9KFqzQzDoFbLvnlI7HI5fuQIjoopludkvdtp5DypOoKX3m2YA-cX6wW5YcvCP-ATDcKk_YjfvEcZ91ZSu3s_i4I6l-toD6lCmLeQXEPE3zGgkP20dWG9KbGEUcfGMrk/s640/Scan1.jpg" /></a></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;">My dear Brothers and Sisters of India and Bhutan,</div><div style="text-align: justify;">As 2nd May, Teachers’ Day of Bhutan, is at the door, the heavenly memories of the historic Teachers’ Day celebration last year (2018) in Thimphu and the royal honour and recognition of the forty- three retired Indian teachers by the Royal Government of Bhutan are flaring up in me. My eyes well up with tears as I recollect the grandeur and splendour, the beauty and gaiety of the sea of children in the rainbow-coloured Changlimithang ground. By the vibration of thousands of Little Buddhas’ (students’) melodious chanting “Happy Teachers’ Day”, the earth and the sky were filled, and we felt jubilant and electrified. Heaven was brought down to the Royal ground in a superb form. Every aspect of the august occasion had, I felt, the touch of God’s hand. So meticulously, so painstakingly and so majestically everything was beautified and organized! In fact, it was a <i>Maha Yajna</i>, in honour and praise of the Indian torchbearers in the field of education of Bhutan. No word is enough to describe the greatness of the occasion and no word will ever be enough to thank the Royal Government of Bhutan for the depth of love and laurels they showered upon us through different ceremonies during the historic week of the historic Teachers' Day and Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Indo-Bhutan friendship.</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><img src="https://img1.blogblog.com/img/video_object.png" /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">My bliss and ecstasy of the glorious occasion surpassed all the past ecstasies. If I had not been blessed to be a part of the royal occasion, I would not know that human beings could be treated with such honour and dignity. In tune with the views of dozens of foreigners and my Indian brothers and sisters with whom I had interaction I must say: “Bhutanese hospitality is the sweetest and heartiest in the world.” I found a profound sense of gratitude and humanity in the love-laden words of His Majesty the King, His Excellency the Prime Minister, Ministers and other officials. My inner voice whispered: “The unparalleled degree of gratitude and humanity of the Bhutanese is the main pillar why the nation has risen to be one of the happiest on the earth.” According to Cicero: “Gratitude is not only the greatest of all virtues, it is the mother of all.”</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The sacred occasion was also an opportunity for me to be together with our entire Indian family through those forty- three teachers. The entire Indian nation shone before me through them. I still marvel at that some of our Indian teachers had travelled on foot for days and weeks embracing all kinds of hardships in those days in order to kindle the light of education in some remote corners of Bhutan. May Lord bless them with a rewarding retired life.</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">To reciprocate the great gesture of honour and goodwill to us and our Indian nation at large, I pray whole-heartedly that the last Shangri-la (heaven on the earth) remain an abode of peace forever and her people continue to thrive in health, happiness and prosperity, and enjoy great happiness under the guidance of His Majesty the King. According to the Holy Scripture, the Bhagavad Gita, as I understand, the King is the embodiment of the Supreme Lord Himself. MAY OUR BELOVED KING LIVE LONG AND BE ENDOWED WITH THE BEST OF EVERYTHING!</div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">HAPPY TEACHERS’ DAY TO ALL THE TEACHERS, STUDENTS, FRIENDS AND MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN BHUTAN.PALDEN DRUKPA GYALO! (TOWARDS MY FATHER’S DREAM: SERVICE TO HUMANITY)</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">During my stay at Pune for 37 days in last October and November for my fistula treatment and Yoga training, I met several retired high officials who had visited Bhutan. They expressed very high opinion about the kingdom and her people. One of them was Mr. Anil Kumar Banerjee, a very senior renowned IPS officer of Maharashtra state. I was marvelled by Mr. Banerjee’s rating of the tiny Himalayan highland. He said: “Privileged as an IPS officer I visited most of the countries of the world including the U.S.A., but I found Bhutan the finest of all countries and the Bhutanese the finest people on the earth.” I carry the same picture in my heart about the tiny kingdom, which is now known to the world as the happiest nation. This inspires me to share the following truth as my services to the lovely people with a grateful heart.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Truth that benefits the sea of humanity must be revealed. In tune with Doctor B. M. Hegde’s book WHAT DOCTORS DON’T GET TO STUDY IN MEDICAL SCHOOL and Yoga legend, Dr B.K.S. Iyengar, the Michelangelo of Yoga, and based on my own experiences I must say every disease has a cure, even AIDS, as B.K.S. Iyengar asserts, so has fistula, when we practice integrative medicine system as recommended by Dr. B. M. Hegde. We can enjoy the best health and best life even at the old age. Health is undisputedly the greatest wealth and it is the birth right of every human being. Life might unfold its greatest glory even at the old age when one attains the true health, the divine health by virtue of wisdom and art of living! Robert Browning brilliantly wrote: <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: center;">
<i><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">“Grow old along with me<o:p></o:p></span></i></div>
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<i><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">The best is yet to be.”<o:p></o:p></span></i></div>
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<i><span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></i></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">There are ailments which can be cured by a few drops of Homeopathy at mere Rs. 20 -30, which in Allopathy might cost a heavy amount for its technology, investigations and expensive medicines. For my knee injury I was advised by all the orthopaedic surgeons I consulted to undergo surgery which was going to cost me a huge amount. But as God was on my side, I escaped from the blow. My knee has become perfectly all right by simple Yoga practice and Amway <i>All Plant Protein Powder</i>. When we strive to live a righteous life God helps us and heals us through his chosen wonderful path. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">There are cases for which Allopathy has no guaranteed cure, but Ayurveda has wonderful remedy. Fistula is one of such maladies. A Canadian fistula afflicted lady after fourteen times of unsuccessful Allopathy surgery in twenty years had come to Dr. Prasad Bapat, Ayurved Acharya, Pune, and went back healed just in a month. What an incredible power Indian Ayurveda possesses! I suffered from fistula and underwent Allopathy treatments and surgeries for eight years with zero result. But by Dr. Prasad Bapat’s Ayuevedic Kshar Sutra (medicated thread) treatment I have been healed and healthy just in three weeks without any medicine or pain. I learned that fistula was not a big problem at all, but the wrong treatments of the orthodox system had caused me pain and suffering for eight years. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">During the course of the historic three - week treatment I walked more than 10 km a day in Pune, a wonderful Indian city, attended Yoga classes daily at Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute, even practiced Gym in Chittaranjan Park on the inspiration of the doctor. Incredible energy with volcanic spirit! Fully a new man I became! This is what a true doctor can do. Medicine does very little. As per reports Adverse Drug Reactions resulted in alarming death rate in the U.S. It is the mind that needs to be treated, reoriented and nurtured more. Hippocrates, the Father of Modern Medicine, wrote: “It is more important to know the person who has the disease than the disease the person has.” Allopathy is wonderful in case of emergency, but not in all cases. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Being a Nature worshipper, and inspired by my talk about the beauty of the Kingdom, the fistula specialist, Ayurved legend, Dr. Prasad Bapat visits Bhutan from March 31 to April 7, 2019. If there has been any long fistula case which has not responded to Allopathy treatment, this Ayurvedic doctor can be contacted for guaranteed cure. He can even be personally met during his short visit to Bhutan though he is coming with focus to enjoy the beauty of the pristine nature and environment of the kingdom. He can be contacted at <span class="MsoHyperlink"><a href="mailto:omayuclinic@gmail.com">omayuclinic@gmail.com</a></span><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Caution regarding Kshar Sutra (medicated thread)! The market is flooded with spurious goods, unethical practices and false promises and advertisements. All Kshar sutras available in the market are not the same. Before using Dr. Bapat’s Kshar Sutras, I had used six pieces of kshar sutra purchased from the market with disappointing result. Dr. B.M. Hegde in his celebrated book “What Doctors Don’t Get To Study in Medical School” wrote: “The present era could be best described in the paraphrased words of Charles Dickens: The twenty first century is the best of times if one considers the so called scientific developments; and the worst times, when one critically looks at human development......!” <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Dr. Bapat’s Kshar Sutras are unique and different from the sutras available in the market because he manufactures the sutras of his own with the sole aim to heal his patients, and not to sell the thread pieces merely for money. Of course, he takes good amount of money for his treatment and healing of the patients, but it is worth paying because the cure is quick and guaranteed. The best part of the doctor is: he is a fine human being. To me, it is more important how good a person is than his works, skills and expertise. Hippocrates wrote: “It is more important to know the author than the book that she/he has written.” This wisdom applies to all fields of life.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-IN" style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Dr. Prasad Bapat is a Beethoven in the devotion of his services to his patients.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

I must thank the Hon’ble PM for providing me wise guidance as my doctor when I was in Bhutan that led me to victory. Anything that is benefitting and sublimating for mankind is God’s wealth, and God wants us to share the wealth among His children. So I have shared my rich experiences with a hope that this might serve at least someone.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

countries including the USA who came to Dr. Prasad Bapat, Pune, India, with
their prolonged Fistula ailment and went back healed and healthy within a short

for eight years and ran from pillar to post for cure, suffered fathomless agony
and financial loss. All treatments including two times surgery went in vain. By
some doctors I was told that it was incurable. My hope of healing was getting
dimmer and dimmer. But as the Supreme Father is on my side and guided me, I
went on battling and exploring new things for my health and rejuvenation, and
eventually among the thousands of doctors I could trace the most wonderful
fistula healer and a superb human being, Dr. Prasad Bapat, Ayurvedacharya,
Kshar Sutra Specialist, in Pune. And what the modern advanced technology based
medical system could not do in eight years in exchange of lakhs of rupees, Dr.
Bapat did it just in three weeks with mere three pieces of threads called Kshar
Sutra without causing any pain and without using any medicine. I am bounced
back.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

heroic and celebrated book ‘What Doctors Don’t Get to Study in Medical School’
rightly said, “Doctors have been predicting unpredictable about illnesses.” He
wisely and altruistically advocates and recommends integrated system of
medicine and health care – Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Allopathy and Yoga. I find a
Florence Nightingale in the thoughts and philosophy of Dr. B. M. Hegde.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">
There is a popular adage: The
best gift a parent can present to his children is a best library. I would like
to add that the best gift a citizen can offer to his society is a best library.
According to the great writer Pramath Chowdhury, good libraries everywhere are as
important as good hospitals. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Abraham
Lincoln said, “If someone gives me a book that I haven’t read, he is my true
friend.” After Lincoln’s mother’s death when his father married the second
wife, she came to her husband’s house with the wealth of three books. “A good
book contains more real wealth than a good bank,” said Roy L. Smith. Iceland, a
small European country, with less than 3.5 lakhs people has emerged as one of
the richest and happiest country by virtue of its people’s extensive reading,
writing and book publishing trade. The three great Indian Presidents were
devout readers and emerged as great writers, namely Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan,
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and Mr. Pranab Mukherjee. Dr. Radhakrishnan wrote: “Books, the
vistas they unveil, and the dreams they awaken, have been from the beginning my
constant and unfailing companions.” When he was offered Presidentship for the
second term, the saintly president declined because he wanted to live a
solitary life and devote to more learning and writing and thus he emerged as a
great writer. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, a saintly patriot, acquired no material
possessions but a huge library. President Kalam kept himself always burning for
great achievement by the magic power of reading inspirational and devotional
books and rose to the peak of success. It was one of the dreams of the great
president that every house in India should possess a good library. His most
favourite inspirational book was: Light From Many Lamps. Our former President
Pranab Mukherjee in spite of being poor performer in science subjects that
hindered him to become a doctor or engineer rose to the crown of success by
virtue of his voracious reading habit. He is known as book crazy. For Mahatma
Gandhi, the books were his best friends to spend his leisure hours. Sri
Aurobinda was an avid reader and great writer who was nominated for Nobel Prize
for his work – SAVITRI. Sri Maa wrote: One sentence of a book has the potential
to drive a man to the pinnacle of success. Mother of Marry said about Albert
Einstein to his daughter whom Einstein was supposed to marry, “This rascal has
been changed by his madness of reading.” Shirshendu Mukhopadhyaya writes: Books
drives man to pursue the Truth. Paramahansa Yogananda was an avid reader of
religious literatures.</span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">
Let us see what the three men,
namely Thomas Jefferson, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau who have
rebuilt America’s history have said about books: Thomas Jefferson – “I cannot
live without books.” Ralph Waldo Emerson – “Many times the reading of a book
has made the future of a man. Books are for nothing but to inspire. If we
encounter a man of rare intellect, we should ask him what books he read.” Henry
David Thoreau – “A truly great book teaches me better than to read it. I must
soon lay it down and commence living on its hint......What I began by reading,
I must finish by acting.......... Books are the treasured wealth of the world
and the fit inheritance of generations and nations. ” “Employ your time in
improving yourself by other people’s writings so you shall come easily by what
other have laboured hard for.”-Socrates. “More than any other single invention,
writing has transformed human consciousness.”- Dr. Walter Ong. “libraries are
another heaven for human hunters.” – Henry David Thoreau. “The fact that these
people, ten or twenty years after leaving grade school, high school or college,
come and take this training is a glaring commentary on the shocking
deficiencies of our educational system.”- Dale Carnegie.</span></div>

Reading is so powerful that a
single book, or even a single sentence, for that matter, can change your life,
like ‘The Greatest Salesman in the World’ did for Matthew Mc Conaughey. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Reading is the chisel that releases our full
potential. Reading helps us chip away the rough edges and reveal the work of
art within. Without his chisels Michelangelo could never have created his
masterpiece. Reading and writing expand our mental powers. The greatest Greek
philosophers, writers, and mathematicians came up with a whole new way of
looking at the world because reading and writing expanded their minds and gave
them fresh, new perspectives through which to view the world. Reading is an
astounding mental exercise. Lots of books equal lots of bucks. Personal Growth
books Dominates Best Seller Lists. Dr. Marder’s advice: “.....Read books which
tend to elevate your taste....refine your imagination.....clarify your
ambition.....and raise your ideals.” If you do, the hidden powers of reading
will make you grow richer in all areas of your life.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large;">Our virgin and stable thoughts bring to our life everything that we want. Our sublime thoughts, passion, vision, and exertion are the creators of our fate. The great Yogi Swami Sivananda wrote: “You are the architect of your own fate. You are the master of your own destiny.” The same message is echoed in the lines of William Ernest Henley in his famous poem INVICTUS: “I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.” All the seers and prophets opined that we become what we think. The higher we aim, the greater is our achievement. Lord Buddha aimed at the highest and rose to the highest. Barack Obama, the former President of the USA wrote in his essay on The Aim of Life when he was in Kindergarten (Nursery School) that he wanted to become the President of the USA. He wrote the same thought and passion on the same essay topic when he was in Govt. Primary School. He retained the consistency and stability of his focus and worked accordingly throughout his career and succeeded despite hurdles. When King Solomon was asked by God in his dream what gift he wished to get from God, resisting his temptation for material gifts, he asked for and wisdom whereby he became the wisest and richest king of the world. Lord Buddha said: “Health and wisdom are the greatest wealth.” The legendary woman, Savitri, by virtue or her self-exertion and persistency brought back her dead husband to life.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">

<span style="color: black; mso-themecolor: text1;"></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large; mso-themecolor: text1;">Our history is replete with such examples from which we
learn that one can get anything one wants or can become what one wants. So we
should be very careful to make our thoughts and choices of life because they
are sure to manifest in our life one day. So higher the aim, the better it is.
Anybody and everybody can become a Buddha or a Mahatma. Ratnakar, a highwayman,
could soar to become Sage Balmiki, the composer of the great Indian epic, The
Ramayana. As one aims and believes in oneself, so he becomes.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="background-color: #3d85c6;"><span style="color: white;">Ecstasy of the glory of pristine nature in Bhutan</span></span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>Now let me relate some of the small happenings of my life
that have testified the above truth. The day before yesterday the thought of my
Bhutanese schools where I had worked came to mind and the people of my
association in the kingdom. I shared with my wife: <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>“May be time is not very far when by sitting
at our Indian home we will be able to see our schools, homes, friends and
students of Bhutan. What a strange coincidence! Being a newly born technology
fan and guided by my intuition the next day I made a search in the YouTube for
my reformatory centres, the Bhutanese schools, and within seconds I was dazzled
by the views of the schools in remote, semi urban and urban Bhutan and the lively
images of many of my friends and students. I exploded with joy and excitement
and called my wife to watch the heavenly views, and for the entire day we
savoured the bliss of our homes away home. I experienced our thoughts and
desires sometimes translate into reality instantly and sometimes it takes time.
Greater desires needs greater exertion and longer time but sure to manifest into
reality.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large; mso-themecolor: text1;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large; mso-themecolor: text1;">I have been technophobe till recently. I was at zero in technology
though the Royal Government of Bhutan offered ample time and opportunities to
learn the skills, and it is because I was negative towards technology. But
after my repatriation to India, I have realized the profound need and
importance of technology in modern world. I decided to pay and learn the skills
from an institute. But last June suddenly I became confined to bed for more
than a month due to some illness but my mind and will power burned to explore
and learn something new every day. By my intuitive guidance I grabbed the YouTube
application with the help of my son and started exploring my new world. I
became awestruck by the treasures deposited in the ocean of You Tube and now I
am a new man, younger in spirit and zeal. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I am exploring wonders of human creation
daily. Passion for learning new things does wonder in our life. This is the
principle or law of attraction for our success in every arena of our life.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large; mso-themecolor: text1;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large; mso-themecolor: text1;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Here is another
event. For my love and attachment to the Himalayan kingdom Bhutan, last 21
February, birthday of the King of Bhutan, I celebrated as an auspicious day,
and in the following April I was invited to Bhutan as a royal guest along with
another forty nine Indian teachers to the celebration of historic Teachers’ Day
and 50th Anniversary of Indo-Bhutan Friendship. We rise where our
mind rise and vice-versa. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large; mso-themecolor: text1;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large; mso-themecolor: text1;">Right from my childhood I have adored women as symbols of
sublimity. My mother was my dearest and nearest, and best friend of me. Her
smile used to be my rising sun; and tears, my tempests. I always revolted when
I had seen a man disgracing a woman in any manner. In 1997 at Nangkor Girls’
hostel, Bhutan, I attempted to lynch a man when he had cast an evil eye on one of
our girl students. However I was cooled by my wise headmaster, Mr. Sonam
Wangyel and my friend, Mr. Pem Kinley. My thoughts and attitude towards women
led me to the responsibility of looking after the Girls’ Hostel at Nangkor H.S.
School, Pemagatshel, Bhutan, for more than a decade.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large; mso-themecolor: text1;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large; mso-themecolor: text1;">I was a dreamer about my late father’s royal life at the
old age, and it did splendidly materialize, and have been dreaming about my
wife and son and visualizing their strengths and traits whose translation I can
see in their characters and personality. Yes, we can change anything and bring
about any positive things simply by our lofty and virgin thoughts. Edington
once flatly stated his belief as a physicist that “the stuff of the world is
mind stuff.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large; mso-themecolor: text1;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large; mso-themecolor: text1;">In 1997 & 1998 Mr. Sonam Wangyel was my headmaster at
Nangkor Jr. High School, Pemegatshel, Bhutan. I felt amazed by the spell of his
magnetic personality. Right from the first day of our encounter I found a
Dzongda (DM) in him. On the chair of his office at the school I always visualized
him as a Dzongda (District Magistrate) and the school office though small, to
me, it appeared a Dzongda’s chamber at a Dzong,( District Administration
Office) in Bhutan. Accordingly, I shared my thoughts, passion and excitements
with my wife and colleagues and friends. My dream about him translated into
reality in 2012. In recognition of his multi-faceted traits and talents, he has
been promoted to the prestigious post of a Dzongda. Now he is the Dasho Dzongda
of Samtse Dzongkhg, Royal Kingdom of Bhutan. I too have been immensely
benefitted by his high thought vibration about me and my family and his good
will radiation what Norman Vincent Peale term as flash prayer. To his eyes, I
was one of the finest teachers, and marvellously in response to his thought
vibration I was placed in a noble seat of a guest of honour at the historic
Teachers” Day Celebration – 2018, in Bhutan. Beside Dasho Sonam Wangyel, my
life has been greatly transformed by the beautiful thought waves of many of my
students and friends of Bhutan and India. This is the principle of Law of
Attraction as well as Quantum Physics which is known to be the greatest
invention of the twentieth century. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="color: black; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large; mso-themecolor: text1;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I have been
passionate about Yoga since my early childhood though I was born in a non-yogic
family culture and did not get a reliable yoga teacher till I went to the
remote helmet of Bhutan, Tsebar, Pemagatshel. In the library of Tsebar Primary
School through the pages of some Indian magazines my internationally renowned
Yoga teacher, late Yogiraj Dr. B.K.S. Iyengar, MICHELANGELO of Yoga, appeared
to me. I was blessed to receive yoga training from him at his Ramamani Iyengar
Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India. My Yoga fire is burning with more
effulgent as by virtue of my age and maturity I am loving it more. I realized the
truth of the saying, “When the student is ready, the teacher appears.” We need
burning passion for our positive desire to be into reality.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large; mso-themecolor: text1;">From my above experiences, and learning from the
scriptures and different psychology books I have developed a firm belief that
we can gain health, wealth, wisdom or anything else simply by making ourselves
ready for that. There is no barrier in the path of our achievement. Barriers
are created by lack of focus, our doubts, habits, instability of thought, lack
of persistence, alibis, cold feet and many other infirmities. Swami Sivananda
wrote: “Overcome tomorrow’s evil by today’s self-exertion. Destroy unholy
desires through holy desires. Slay unholy thoughts by holy thoughts and gain victory
over your destiny. Do not yield to fatalism.” <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large; mso-themecolor: text1;">We can remake ourselves by sublimating our goal,
thoughts, habits and overall personality regardless of our age, gender, past
life and narrow domestic walls. Dreamers never become old. As they chronologically
grow old, they grow younger in their spirit by virtue of their greater dream
and wisdom of age. King Solomon’s life proved wisdom is the greatest wealth.
And usually it blossoms in the dreamers in old age. Harry Emerson wrote: It is
magnificent to grow old if one keeps young. People like Mother Teresa, Mahatma
Gandhi, Dr. B.K.S. Iyengar, the Michelangelo of Yoga, towered in their
performance in old age. Michelangelo was still producing master pieces at
eighty nine. Robert Browning in his inspiring poem ‘Rabi ben Ezra’ writes: “Grow
old with me/ The best is yet to be.......” Swami Yogananda Baba of Rishikesh,
India, is still super active in his Yoga practices at his age of 105 years.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large; mso-themecolor: text1;">Glories of life unfold during the old age when we are
rich in wisdom.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And it comes only when
we sublimate and consecrate ourselves with lofty thoughts, imagination,
feelings, affirmations, actions, visualization, etc., and make ourselves a vessel
of virtues. For this, old age is the best time when one becomes one’s own master,
when we are free from all kinds of man-made prisons and when the senses cannot
drag the mind towards evils. We must prepare the OASIS of old age by taking
care of our health and life for bathing in elixir of old age. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="color: black; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large; mso-themecolor: text1;">We need to
preserve our health and vitality, and protect the body from all kinds of vices
and abuses through promoting our habits and character, for an awesome life is
waiting for each of us at our ripe age which is far superior to our raw age.
Paramahansa Yogananda wrote: “Man’s body is precious. It has the highest
evolutionary value because of the unique brain and the spinal centres.”
Whatever may be our age, health or body condition, we can always rebuild it through
transforming our attitude, reconditioning our mindset and sublimating our
habits and thoughts. We must imagine health, visualize health, walk health,
talk health, affirm health, act health, hear health, practice health; and
banish the thoughts, talk, expression and behaviour of illness even if they are
true and thus we can reconstitute our body. As we believe so is our Biology. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="margin-left: 0cm; mso-add-space: auto; text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large; mso-themecolor: text1;">Some more
quotes in support of the above philosophy - Yogananda: “...Imagination is the
door through which disease as well as healing enters. Disbelief in the reality
of sickness even when you are ill; an unrecognized visitor will flee!” Dr.
Deepak Chopra: “...The successful patients have learned to motivate their own
healing, and the most successful have gone much further than that.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>They have found the secret of Quantum
Healing. They are the geniuses of body mind connection.” Dr. Joseph Murphy: It
is foolish to believe in sickness or in anything that will hurt or harm you.
Believe in perfect health, prosperity, peace, wealth, and divine guidance.” Henry
David Thoreau: “Public opinion is a weak tyrant compared with our own private
opinion. What a man thinks of himself, that it is which determines, or rather
indicates his fate..... If you have built castles in the air, your work need
not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="margin-left: 0cm; mso-add-space: auto; text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large; mso-themecolor: text1;">The
principles outlined above apply to success in every field of life. Law of
attraction is the law of the Universe.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="color: black; font-family: Scheherazade New; font-size: x-large; mso-themecolor: text1;">So,
howsoever rags or riches we are, ignoring and rising from the trifling and
degrading matters of day to day life let us focus on the noblest, envision the
healthiest, imagine the highest, visualize the highest, affirm the strongest, speak
the holiest, strive the most, read and write the noblest, behave the finest, cultivate
the noblest habits, sublimate character to the highest, love the highest best
and most, and thereby we are sure to create our highest place as the great ones
like Lord Buddha, Mahatma Gandhi, Paramahansa Yogananda, Swami Sivananda, Swami
Vivekananda, Sri Aurobinda, Henery David Thoreau, Dr. BKS Iyengar, Swami
Yogananda Baba and many others have created theirs. GOD LOVES GOD AND GOD
ATTRACTS GOD. Swami Vivekananda said, “The goal of every human being should be to
become ‘god’ himself, then help others to become ‘god’.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
