COMBAT CORONA WITH YOGA!

COMBAT CORONA WITH YOGA!
Inspired by the advocacy of Yoga to combat Corona by the Director of WHO and impelled by my conscience I venture to share my humble knowledge and experiences of Yoga. I have been a direct Yoga student of the Michelangelo of Yoga, Shri B. K. S. Iyengar, Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute, Pune, since 1994, and an ardent reader of the science and philosophy of Yoga. Yoga has taught me that our mind is the cause of our heavenly or hellish life. Today's Corona scourge is a creation of the devilish human mind, like the mind of Sir Ralph of 'The Inch cape Rock '.

Michelangelo of Yoga, Shri B. K. S. Iyengar

To eradicate all kinds of global as well as our personal problems and to restore peace and bliss of life and harmony among men, our mind has to be tamed, ennobled and elevated. And for this, Yoga is the noblest and surest path. Yogacharya B. K. S. Iyengar said, " Yoga is the mother of all arts." According to him, our mind functions through the nervous system. And Yoga tones up our nervous system." When our nervous system is strong, we can overcome all obstacles of life and overpower even the deadliest enemy like the Corona. By toning up the nervous system, Yoga enhances our immune system. Nobel Laureate, Dr. Alexis Carrel in his book ' Man the Unknown' wrote: "....... Mental and nervous strength is infinitely more important than muscular strength...." I request all the readers to read the Chapter III (Body And Physiological Activities) of ' Man the Unknown ' in order to understand the role and importance of our strong nervous system. And Yoga is an unparalleled art in building that heaven. The world-famous Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Jung wrote: "No system of thought or body control is more widely known today than Yoga. .......its doctrine and method which include every phase of life, it promises undreamed Possibilities." (Source: Great Minds on India --- by Salil Gewali) " Yoga Shastra, the Science of Yoga, ....... is one of India's greatest contributions to the world, in the sphere of maintaining good health and peaceful living. This is once again the need of the hour today, in a world torn into pieces by hatred, greed, and strife " wrote Dr. B. M. Hegde in his book ' What Doctors Don't Get to Study in Medical School. He also wrote: " Yoga leads the way." Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar wrote:" Yoga does not just change the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees."
Swami Vivekananda's Raja Yoga asserts: "........He who combines in himself both Yoga and knowledge, with him the Lord is pleased. Those that practice Maha Yoga(Raja Yoga), either once a day, or twice a day, or thrice, or always, know them to be gods." According to Dr. Alexis Carrel, our conduct and the quality of thoughts depend, in a large measure, on the state of our circulatory apparatus. Yoga does exercises marvellous effect on our circulatory apparatus.

Yoga is a secular and sacred subject. It is not a religion. But it is not contradictory to any religion. Though it originated from India, it is for the wellbeing of all mankind. From the age of six, anyone at any age can take to Yoga for a new taste of life. However, Yoga should be learned under the guidance of a trained teacher. Those who have learned the art, for you this lockdown period is a boon to make your practice perfect and profound. Through regular practice, you will emerge a better human being. Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar during one of the Classes at Pune said to me, "Yoga will make you a better teacher." And in May 2018, I was given that recognition by the Royal Government of Bhutan.

Lord Yehudi Menuhin, the world-famous German violin maestro, after learning Yoga from Guruji wrote in a letter, "........ I have never enjoyed as good concerts or as much control over my violin playing as I do now: much of that is your merit." (Source: Yog Rahasya Vol.6, No.2)
Guruji has poured incredible wisdom in his last book ' Light on Life': "......From your physical body, you will journey inward to discover your "subtle bodies" --- your energy body, where breath and emotions reside; your mental body, where thoughts and obsession can be mastered; your intellectual body, where intelligence and wisdom can be found; and your divine body, where the Universal soul can be glimpsed."

So, let's practice Yoga to turn the calamity into an opportunity. God has created you with a great purpose. God loves you, and so do I.
