The
nobler the parents, the higher the Divine grace, and the luckier are the children.
This is my findings of age, experience, and study as a senior teacher and a
senior citizen. George Herbert: “One father is more than a hundred schoolmasters.” Abraham Lincoln: “Everything I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my
angel mother.” Fortunes descend on the children when parents are pious and
virtuous.
Here
I share an aristocrat senior couple’s way of their daughter’s birthday
celebration which fell yesterday, Sunday 27 December, that has a profound message
for all parents to raise happy and successful children and happy family. They
are one of the happiest, healthiest, noblest, and prosperous families of
Tufangunj, Cooch Behar, West Bengal. The parents said, “We don’t celebrate 25
December, Christmas Day but 27 December, our daughter’s birthday. We avoid
all external pomp to celebrate the day but try to live a rich inner life, a
divine life, in the wellbeing of our daughter.”
The
noble parents are Dr. Nilratan Sarkar, a renowned dental surgeon of Tufangunj, and his devoted wife who are one of the happiest, healthiest and prosperous
families. To divinize and consecrate their daughter’s birthday they devoted
themselves to perform a series of inner disciplines, like washing and bathing
at dawn, chanting prayers and holy books, fasting, preparing to visit
Hanuman Mandir and other sanctifying activities. They drove to my hometown,
Kamakhyaguri, from Tufangunj in order to offer their prayer to Lord Hanumana at
my hometown in the wellbeing of their married daughter who lives with her
husband in Kolkata. They spent about two hours at the Hanuman Temple in prayer,
worship, seeking blessings for their daughter, prasad offering, etc.
I
was marveled at their novelty and sublimity in their way of celebrating the
daughter’s birthday.
I
have learned new lessons from them which is going to elevate me to be a better
father to my son and a better husband to my wife.
The most astonishing phenomenon of the occasion was played by Lord Himself. A
mysterious event! A rain of white cotton flowers descended on all of us from heaven on the conclusion of the birthday celebration which was a clear sign
of the Lord’s blessings on their daughter and a shower of fortunes on all of us.
Though it is unbelievable it did happen. We all were taken aback and
thrilled by the splendid sight. From this amazing occurrence, I have realized
God is always in search of divine parents to manifest His miracles and marvels.
Children’s fortunes are granted by the almighty when their parents become an embodiment of love and divinity.
John A. Shedd wrote: “Simply having children does not make mothers.”
“The
most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother.”
